Leo Hayes

Director of Safety & Risk Prevention

Leo was born and raised in Laurens, SC, but has lived in nearby Liberty for most of his life. He is married to AJ, who is also a member of the Clemson Insurance team.

Leo has had an extensive and diverse career, beginning with his service in the U.S. Army as a military police investigator. He later joined the South Carolina Highway Patrol, specializing in accident reconstruction. He also provided security for government officials and most recently retired as the station Captain of the Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards Fire Department.

As the Director of Safety and Risk Prevention, Leo provides safety inspections for Clemson Insurance clients, helping identify potential risks and safety concerns within their homes. He works with families to develop proactive safety plans and help them prepare in the event of an accident. His expertise in these areas are of great value to the agency and our clients.

In his free time, Leo enjoys hunting, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends.
